It is 2004 about 6 o clock in the morning. The sun is peeking through the window of the airplane. It has been a long flight but the plane is finally descending. In a few minutes I’ll be setting foot in a new culture, a strange country.
I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I can’t wait to get out of the plane and go exploring. But first passing through customs and collecting my bags. Taking some cash out of the ATM and I’m ready to go.
Stepping outside the airport I’m hit right in the face by the humidity, the heat and the smells. It’s indescribable and has a deep impact. Even now after so many years I can easily recall these first moments……WELCOME TO BANGKOK!
The first time I visited Asia was in 2004. In March I went on a 2 week backpack trip to Thailand. Since that time I have visited Asia, and Thailand in specific, many times for shorter or longer periods.
After some time I felt like sharing my experiences with the rest of the world. That’s how I came up with asiantraveler.
